The Opportunity:

Working directly with the Principal as well as other seniors, this role could be the springboard to your future.  Must be self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to think for yourself.

Thompsons Australia has offices in Darwin, Wollongong and Hurstville.  Boasting a level of stability the envy of most firms, we are on the cusp now of a generational shift and growth opportunities across two states.  This will translate to professional growth for the right individual, yet in a balanced and family oriented firm, but they must be proactive of nature and take responsibility for their work.


As part of a small dedicated team, you will be accountable for:

  • Managing an existing portfolio of clients, across multiple industries.
  • Analysis of all business operations, making recommendations for process improvement.
  • Proactively networking & developing the business by bringing on new clients.
  • Grow into part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Assist with implementing any process improvement & help train staff.
  • Lead & mentor colleagues when required.


Your Background:

You are an enthusiastic qualified CPA/CA Accountant with at least 7 years’ experience in a Business Services position. Strong experience with using MYOB & Xero software systems and the ability to build your own portfolio is essential.

Your excellent communication skills, ability to learn/adapt quickly & confidently as well as can do attitude will be a distinct advantage in securing this sort-after role.



Your package will be commensurate with your experience and ability.


Please Note:

This is not a junior position. It requires sufficient experience to allow a fairly autonomous approach, knowing when to seek advice from other accountants and the ability to think commercially.  The suitable candidate will likely have 7 years experience and if not already qualified, be close to completion.

Culturally, you will enjoy working in a small team and be ready to help across the client base in all facets of business services.
