Beyond Water

BeyondWater is a not-for-profit organisation established to raise funds to bring clean, safe drinking water to schools, orphanages, medical clinics and remote communities in Africa. We also educate Australians about the 1.1 billion people who do not have access to safe water. We have a 100% model where our guarantee is that 100% of any funds given for projects go towards the project. Our donors are individuals, schools, businesses and service groups. Events are held throughout Sydney to raise awareness of the water needs of those in developing nations. BeyondWater is committed to partnering with communities in Africa to give long term self sustaining water projects that transform the lives of women and children who are caught in the poverty cycle. This cycle can be broken through the provision of deep bore wells, water tanks, guttering, latrines and hand washing programmes.

BeyondWater focuses on three areas:

Most Australians are not educated on the water needs of those in developing countries. Each day 5,000 children die because they don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. 90% of those are under the age of 5. At BeyondWater we want people to be informed about how clean water transforms communities.

Projects cost between $10,000 and $20,000 depending on the area and the building requirements. Donations over $2 are tax deductible within Australia. As a community organisation, BeyondWater uses local events to raise funds and awareness. There is a strong use of social networks and online giving to make it easy for people to give, see where their money is going and receive regular updates on projects.

BeyondWater gives opportunity for people to volunteer their time and skills at a capacity they can meet. An intern program has been developed with a number of Sydney universities where students can be mentored by business professionals and assist in specific areas of the organisation. Each year BeyondWater leads a team to serve in Africa, visiting schools, medical clinics, churches and Non-Government Organisations.
